Crew file · GerSpatial · Gers, France

From mission control to the Gers.

GerSpatial brings practical space-systems know-how to engineering, training and specialist software. It is built by Richard Francis, a former European Space Agency project manager who now runs a working observatory above La Romieu.

Onboard subsystems

Three ways we support real missions.

SYS-ENG Nominal

Engineering

Systems support for mission teams, with a focus on Earth-observation spacecraft, calibration, and end-to-end data chains.

SYS-TRN Nominal

Training

Specialised seminars on space science and engineering topics for technical teams, students, and mission partners.

SYS-SW Nominal

Software and Applications

Practical Mac and iOS utilities for observatory monitoring, satellite tracking, countdown operations, and sky-quality workflows.

Mission log

The flight path so far.

GerSpatial sits where operational space knowledge, data, training and field-ready software meet. Here is how it got here.

  1. Richard Francis at a mission control console during spacecraft operations

    LOG 01 · Mission control

    On console

Years inside European space operations, where timelines are exact and every acronym matters. That discipline shapes everything GerSpatial builds.

  2. Richard Francis in cleanroom clothing in front of an Earth-observation satellite during integration

    LOG 02 · Integration cleanroom

    Hardware up close

Earth-observation spacecraft are built, tested and calibrated long before launch. Knowing the whole data chain, from sensor to ground segment, is the foundation of our engineering support.

  3. Richard Francis in the GerSpatial workshop surrounded by electronics and computers

LOG 03 · The Gers workshop

    Ground control, relocated

In an old stone building in Gascony, operational know-how turns into Mac and iOS tools for observatories, satellite tracking and launch countdowns.

  4. Le Bourdieu Observatory with its roll-off roof open and telescopes on their mounts

LOG 04 · Le Bourdieu Observatory

    Eyes on the sky

The roll-off-roof observatory above La Romieu, where the same instruments and software are used every clear night, and where guests come to see it all for themselves.

Next manoeuvre

See it from the observatory, or bring us a project.

Guests can book a private evening at Le Bourdieu Observatory. Teams can get in touch about systems work, training or app support.
